Modernizing the Secretary of State Website and e-Services

The guy who occupied the White House between President Obama and President Biden used to say “everybody is saying” or “people say.”

Well, people say there are problems with the Secretary of State website.

This is not a new complaint. The last three Dem-NPL candidates for Secretary of State called for a modernizing of the office, for improved access that would make the site more useful and more citizen friendly, especially for business providers and leaders. In the last debate four years ago, the guy who’s been in the office – at that time for more than 25 years -said “improvements are coming. Trust me.”

He said that four years ago.

The Republican who’s running now for Secretary of State says, he’s running to modernize the office. Let’s code switch here - their side is saying “of course we’ve had thirty years to get rid of our rotary phones. Trust us. This time we’ll do it.”

Let’s give the people of North Dakota a new experience, a person who is used to implementing software improvements in his current job, a university administrator comfortable with identifying needs and finding solutions. We can do better. Dems will do better.

I’ve said better business filing systems and I’ve said better tracking of the plans and processes of our state government, making information easier to find and more transparent.
