In episode one, we do some fun and games in the first :25 minutes then we talk about the tribes, ranked choice voting, election deniers, and red state policies that hurt our communities. In episode two, we talk about popular vote, electoral college politics, term limits, abortion rights, and some national issues. Enjoy!

NEWSPAPERS

...

"In his academic administration role, Powell works closely with developers on websites, and said a better website would improve both election information and business registration by making the site more user friendly.

[For example,] "the state has an excellent primer on the election process, but it isn’t engaging," Powell said. “It is a really terrific document. We need to find a way to make that more alive.”

Bismarck Tribune

...

Powell: “I have always cared about elections, I have always cared about democracy.”

“Voting rights in North Dakota may soon be under assault in the same way they are in lots of other states.”

(paywall may be present)

Fargo Forum

...

Powell: "I am the only candidate who wants to preserve, or even expand, our voting systems. One candidate is running on a platform to eliminate drop boxes, end mail-based voting. The other guy voted...for a resolution that refuses voting rights for all Americans."

(paywall may be present)

The Dakotan

...

Powell: “The advantage to electing a voting official – the key voting official in the state – from ‘the other party’ is I won’t be influenced by Burgum’s money or the power of the leaders in the legislature and other parts of the government.”

North Dakota Farmers Union Quarterly

...

Powell: “In their zealousness to impose their will rather than serve North Dakota, the legislature put a measure on the ballot in 2014, one that” had the impact of prohibiting abortion.

“Abortion care is health care. [The trigger ban - in place against the 2014 express will of the people] serves as allegory for so many other rights.”

Our “legislature so brilliantly fails to represent North Dakota.”

Fargo Forum

...

Powell: “The Republican Party has become a place where dogma is more important than credibility.”

“I'm worried about voting rights. I want to make sure that we have a good, successful office where our records are kept. I want to make sure that people have the opportunity to interact with the government the way they need to,” Powell said. “I want to make sure that we're tracking what's going on in our state legislature, and that the website is good, reliable and useful."
